Her lyrics and song themes range from the melancholy blue of “Child of Misfortune” and “Catapult”, to the playful, joyful, “Maple Tree”. Free Sreet acoustic open mic with feature Evans and Keane

7pm

Open Mic sign up is at 6:45 and things get started around 7:15pm Our Feature this week is Evans and Keane
Padraic Keane's finger style acoustic guitar gets your
attention from the very beginning and doesn't fade. His melodic lines set the mood and invite you to experience
the delicate fabric of each song. The interplay between guitar and vocal is noteworthy. His playing is superb.

Laura Evans' vocals move me. She sings from the heart with a gentle yet powerful intensity - songs of love and
and home, beauty, journeys and goodbyes.

The music and songs on their new CD are honest, straightforward and sincere. As I listened to each song on this CD, I
found myself becoming introspective, reflecting on the people and things in my life that are truly important.

An acoustic evening with Bullyclub

8pm

Portland, Maine’s Bullyclub are a hard band to pin down. Neither a group of practicing bullies
nor a collection of recovering meanies, they are instead a four-piece band that revels in making
unapologetically melodic, literate guitar pop music. Music that can be big or little. It can be dense
or simple. It’s like indie-rock that’s all grown up, or a singer-songwriter having a real bad day.
“Life should have a soundtrack. Relationships should have make-out music. Break-ups should have theme songs.
Bullyclub has written an emotionally charged, musical script to cover all the bases...showcasing beautiful con-
straint and liquid poetry...”. Sound Check Magazine, Boston

An Evening with the Mutineers

8pm

The Mutineers play traditional folk, blues and old-time country music. With the necessary ingredients (guitar, mandolin, acoustic bass, dobro, banjo) the songs are adapted and arranged in ways that are at once traditional and unique. The songs are selected, arranged and sung by Stuart MacDonald, who has been collecting, learning and playing traditional folk music for a number of years. He is joined by multi-talented stand-up acoustic bassist Rod Pervier. Rod has a wealth of musical experience and is an accomplished, and highly sought-after musician, playing contra dances and other events. Rounding out the trio is Jeff Trippe, a multi-instrumentalist originally from the Southeastern U.S. where he performed with various bands over the years. Jeff has also worked as a solo act and recording artist. Dick Hodges played and recorded with The Mutineers for three years and can be heard on "Where Mockingbirds Roam." Their first record "Where Mockingbirds Roam" is a collection of traditional songs drawing from the folk, blues and old time country music genres. These songs have been rearranged melodically and lyrically so that they are at once modern and faithful to the rich traditions that created them. The album boasts many styles from the moody slave spiritual "Motherless Child" to the wistful storytelling of "Old Joe's Barroom" to the horse-galloping of "Lily of The West." Complete with a few guest musicians of note, this record is the sound of three musicians scratching through the old time sound to produce a collection of songs that reveal the wide and varied beauty of traditional folk music.

Megan Jo Wilson

8pm

My "band" is an ever-shifting collection of talented weirdos. We rarely rehearse and most of the time we make up set-lists as we go. I don't know the names of the strings on my guitar. I only know the names of a few chords. I play the guitar so I can sing. I sing because it makes me feel calm again. It makes me feel light. I have to write songs because I feel sick when I don't. The songs are written for my own pleasure. It's strange and wonderful and scary to share the songs with other people. Find out more about my music at meganjowilson.com.

Jon Call & the foundation

6pm

Acoustic singer songwriter Jon Call draws inspiration from folk, jazz, reggae and hip-hop. He captivates the audience with an acoustic guitar, a harmonica, soulful melodies and a luminescent vocal range. His personable lyrics speak of hope, love, and the world in which we live, provoking the listener to open their mind and become more conscious of the way we are and the way we treat each other.

Jon offers an uplifting and refreshing mix of styles delivered in an energetic and positive fashion. His performances are memorable experiences for those who seize the opportunity to see him. The free street acoustic open mic Featuring Paul Cataldo

Free Street Acoustic Open Mic - 7pm

Tonights feature is Paul Cataldo.
Paul Cataldo is a New York based 24 yr. old singer/songwriter born and raised in the Boston area. With a passion and appreciation for great songwriters at an early age, picking up the guitar seemed mandatory. Paul has been writing music and molding a style like no other since the age of fourteen, looking up to artists such as Cat Stevens, Neil Young and Johnny Cash. While studying the craft of song writing and creating his own music, Paul began realizing the significance of quality lead (instrumental) parts to his songs. Insisting on being a self taught musician, he locked himself away in his room and studied note for note the guitar styles of John Fogerty, Lindsay Buckingham, Jimi Hendrix and others. Getting anxious for more stage time, Paul began asking around town looking for a professional spot in a bar band playing lead guitar. Eventually he found himself playing lead guitar and singing backup vocals with an established classic rock tribute band named Shortbus from Massachusetts.

After 3 yrs of playing cover songs at a professional level, Paul knew it was time to make the move and take his original songs to one of the three music capitals. Although they do possess a country twang in their style, the original songs are a bit more dominated by folk and rock influence and with New York City only 200 miles South of home, the Big Apple became the obvious decision over Nashville. Working harsh hours at high paced restaurants to cover the painful cost of living in New York City, Paul has still managed to find time to show his face on various café and bar room stages. Paul can be seen performing regularly throughout the city with backing band "Missing Tractor" (drummer Tony Montalbano and bassist Eben Pariser) at live music venues such as: Rockwood Music Hall, Kenny’s Castaways, Café Vivaldi, The Knitting Factory, Alphabet Lounge, Desmond’s Tavern, and the Underscore. An all original set list generally comprised of 12-15 songs cover a range of topics and styles. Paul can be heard singing songs and telling stories about everything from alcoholism, war, poverty and jealousy all the way down the road to songs of peace and love. His recent release “Home” has received radio play on UCLA radio, 95.5 WATD Boston, and 440music.com. The first promotional show for the album took place at the Guilford Food and Wine Festival in front of 1000+ people.

Paul continues to relentlessly pursue his dream of recording and playing live for a living. Determined and not easily discouraged his will stays strong and his goals stay within reach. Accomplishments he would like to achieve over the next year or so include touring major music cities across the U.S., expanding the loyal fan base, and pushing songs from the new EP “Home” for placement in television and movies. With his heart set on the road, determined and focused, Paul Cataldo is destined to do what he was put on this earth to do...sing his songs for a lifetime to people all over this world.
sign up is at 6:30....our aim is always to start at 7pm.. Michele Arcand and Craig Springer will be your hosts
